Sam Maverick arrived in Texas on the eve of the Texas Revolution and died in 1870, he participated in many important events including the Siege of Bexar, the defense of the Alamo, the independence convention at Washington-on-the-Brazos, minutemen expeditions against Indians, the Chihuahuan Expedition of 1848, mayor of San Antonio, congressman of the republic, and seccession commissioner for Texas during the Civil War. Mary, who may have been the first Anglo-American woman to settle in the San Antonio area, kept their pioneer home and raised their family. Mary kept a detailed diary and published her memoirs, Paula Mitchell Marks used Mary's diary and the rich store of Maverick family papers to write this combined biography. Front board slightly bowed. Spine slightly slanted. Spine gently bumped at both ends. No previous owner marks. Dust jacket is bright with only minimal wear along the edges. Dust jacket now protected in Mylar.
