First printing in wrappers, one of 975 copies. Seven fables of Aesop (in the 1954 translation by S. A. Handford), each iIllustrated with wood blocks by Helen Siegl on a different color pastel background, and each designed to show off a different typeface, Brief captions identifying the types used in the illustrated specimens appear on facing pages. Preceded by a one page introduction to the type face, and a final page illustrating the types available in his foundry. Colophon printed inside the back cover. In addition to being known for his press and for his hot-metal casting foundry, Berliner was the district attorney of Nevada County for many years, and he is credited with co-writing the Miranda warning in easy to understand words, and printing it on small cards to distribute to police officers.
