Description:
New York: Macmillan, 1941. Originally published 1938. 1941 on title page. Brown hardcover clean square and tight with a small mark bottom of first free endpaper. 132 pages with just a minor bit of foxing. DJ has shelfwear, not price-clipped - $1.75. Protected from further damage in clean Brodart. Disney movie based on this book, but as so often happens, the book is so much more delightful! In addition to the five dachshunds and the Great Dane who is raised among them is a griffon, named Voltaire. From the dogs viewpoint, people are referred to as Legs: Master Legs, Visitor Legs, Sailor Legs, etc. The humans appear as shadowy authorities, but the dialog is what might be heard if dog speak could be translated to our language.. Illus. by Barker, K. F.. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Hardcover. Near Very Good/Near Very Good.
