Kansas City: Franklin Hudson, 1909. Hardcover. Very Good. First American edition, translated and edited by F. L. Dodds. Captain Cerazo was the only surviviing officer of a Detachment of Spanish soldiers defending the town of Baler on Luzon in the Phillippines in 1897-1898. Author photo frontis, and two group photos. Bright red cloth boards with paper insignia on front, gold titles on front and spine. Spine is slightly faded. Previous owner penciled name and 1923 date on front pastedown over an erasure. Narrow chip on edge of photo pages. Light wear at board corners.
