About This Item
Toronto: McLeod & Allen, 1911. First Canadian Edition. Hardcover. Very Good +. Charles Livingston Bull. This is a book that is well outside the typical western cowboy classic. Cowboys and other humans do figure in this collection of animal stories. But an animal is at the center of each one: a horse, a steer, a mule, a coyote, a mountain lion, and so on. Pattullo humanizes them enough to give them thoughts and feelings. Pattullos is a Darwinian world where some are predators, some are prey, and the fittest and most cunning survive.
George Pattullo (1879-1967), was born in Ontario, Canada, and left his job as a newspaper editor in 1908 to head west. He traveled in the Southwest with photographer Erwin E. Smith, writing western stories for The Saturday Evening Post and McClures." Tight binding. No chips, tears, creases or written inscriptions. Paste-down illustration of a mule on front cover board. Green coverboards with gilt lettering. Frontis illustration with onion-skin protector. Six full page illustrations including frontis. Some light wear to edges of coverboards. Size: Sm 8vo (7.5" to 8"). 288 pp.

About Bibliodditiques
Thank you for visiting the home page of BIBLIODDITIQUES - specializing in children's literature, non-fiction, and rare and antiquarian books. This year marks my 12th anniversary in the book trade. I am a graduate of the Colorado Antiquarian Book Seminar (2009) and a member of the IOBA (International Online Booksellers Association). I take pride in offering books that are of the same quality that I like to see in my own private collection. Books I sell must meet my own high standards of condition, which generally requires that the binding be tight, dust jackets be intact, and that there be no major defects. I do not offer books that are ex-library copies, unless they are hard to find in any condition. Customer satisfaction is very important to me. I am happy to answer any questions you may have and to send you photos of my listings upon request. Your patronage is greatly appreciated.
