About This Item
London: Heinemann, 1977. First Edition . Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. This is a first printing of the first edition. There is a gift inscription to a former owner on the front free end paper, but the rest of the interior is clean and crisp. The illustrated covers are bright, with light wear at edges and corners. The dust jacket is also in very good condition, with light wear overall, but one short (2 cm) tear at the top of the front panel. The attached scan shows this in detail. The jacket is now in a protective mylar cover. Synopsis: "Each Valentine's Day a Lady in Black is seen in the churchyard, pining over the grave of a young man who never knew she loved him. It is the lovely Miss Jessop, sweet sixteen and still unattached -- for who will woo an undertaker's daughter?
