Comstock / This biography of the famaos Mexican General Vallejo weaves his life story into the fabric of California's history from remote a Mexican Province to American statehood. In this book, especially written for the younger reader but equally enjoyable for adults, Comstock vivdly recreates the General's life in terms of the four flags that flew over California - Spanish, Mexican, California Bear, and USA. The book describes, in fascinating detail, the daily life on a Hacienda, and in the early settlements along the Pacific Coast. .
