Further inscribed on half-title: "For my friend John Miersohn (sp?) who has for so long shared my interest in our great American Southwest - With special good wishes," signed, dated October 1968. Octavo. Cloth hardcover; dustjacket; xviii,[1]-268pp; map; illus. Tight, Near Fine copy in slightly rubbed and edgworn dustwrapper. The previous owner has pasted a manila envelope inside the rear cover, presumably to hold a map not present here (nor called for in the Table of Contents).

Account of the 1871 Camp Grant Massacre, "...one of the bloodiest incidents in the white man's long and shameful relationship with the American Indian...possibly the blackest page in Arizona's history" (from the jacket blurb).
