About This Item

London: Methuen & Co. Ltd.., 1915. This is a Very Good copy of the First English Edition. [stated "First Published in 1915"]. The English edition contains Conrad's Note, which did not appear in the American version. Red cloth binding with titling on the spine in gilt. Clean text; viii, 415 pages. A 4-page list follows, dated "Autumn, 1915'" rather than the "Spring 1915" of the first state. This is followed by a 31-page publisher catalog. dated on the last page "8/5/15" - a first Issue point. However, there is no comma after "Street" on the Title Page, Perhaps this can best be described as a Mixed State copy. The spine has faded but the gilt is still bright and clear..Previous-owner bookplate on the front paste-down. Spine is lightly faded but with the gilt still bright. Light soil around the margins; top edge a bit dusty. A solid copy. No dustwrapper; in an archival plastic protector.. First English Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
