Emmaus, PA: Rodale Books/Miniature Books, 1954. Translated from the French by Roland Gant. Very good (faded spine, some foxing and offsetting on the first and last couple of pages) without dust jacket. Illustrated by Claus in color. Perrault was a 17th century French doctor and architect (he designed the Colonnade du Louvre) and writer. Known primarily for his Mother Goose's Tales, this is the first translation into English of this humorous poem which was part of an ongoing literary battle that also produced Swift's "The Battle of the Books.". 1st Edition. Hard Cover. Illus. by Claus.
