New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 1936. First Edition . Hardcover. Near Fine/Good. 287, [2] pp. Blue cloth, stamped in black on spine and front panel. First edition of author's second novel, his first to be published in the United States. Trumbo was the subject of the 2015 film based on his life. Trumbo wrote the film scripts to Roman Holiday, Exodus, Spartacus, and The Brave One, and was blacklisted for his suspected Communist activity during the McCarthy era. This is a political novel, a satire set in Washington, D.C. during the New Deal. Previous owner's name on front free end-paper else Fine in price-clipped dust jacket with tape repair at head and tail of the spine of the jacket and some minor tears. Photos provided on request.
