New York: Harper & Brothers, Publishers, 1897. First American edition. Dark blue boards, gilt title on spine, gilt medallion and monogram on front, 338 numbered pages plus map of Wessex plus one page ad. Lightly rubbed on ends of spine and tips of corners, boards lightly smudged, light-coloured smudge (3/4 inch) on rear, pages darkened. One spot of foxing on tissue covering frontispiece, faint black line on page 98, cracked at pages 159 and 239, but binding tight. Two small (1/8 inch) marks on lower edge pages 238 and 239, dark smudging along top edge of rear free endpaper, sporadic tiny marks throughout. Overall, very good minus. . Hard Cover. Very Good Minus/No DJ. Illus. by MacBeth-Raeburn, H.. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
