Burton, British Columbia: Burton New Horizons Book Committee, 1982. Blue cloth covered boards with black titling and photograph to front and spine. Slight wear to spine ends and bumping to corners. Spine shaken. Owner's notation recto the title page detailing her name, birth date, and parentage. Clean, clear copy; 411 pages including index and numerous black and white photographs. "This area is the narrows between the upper Arrow Lake and the Lower Arrow Lake on the Columbia River. The narrows were a mere 19 miles in length but boasted as many as 13 small communities on both sides of the river. Our history will start with the first residents, the Indians, who were few by the time the white men came - explorers and fur traders who used the river as a trade route - the gold rush that soon petered out - the famous apple orchards which lost their fame to the Okanagan valley - the loggers and Celgar who brought stability to our area, and last, but not least, 'Expropriation'. This was to many an end to a way of life, to others a new beginning." Scarce.. First Printing (stated). Hard Cover. Very Good/No Jacket (as issued). 11" x 8 1/2".
