The dust jacket has a whole probably created by an insect at the top right of the front panel and a nibble mark at the bottom right-hand side of the same panel, fading to the spine section, and traces of foxing to the front edge of the text block, and the tinted top edge. This series of letters between the author of the Sword in the Stone, and the author of Aspects of Love is "a study in greater depth of one of the friendships are made up that life and flourished in the long and amusing letters they wrote each other over almost 30 years."
