About This Item

New York: Grosset & Dunlap, 1923. Photoplay Edition. Hardcover. Near Fine/Very Good/Near Fine. 8vo., 335pp. plus 11 pages of ads. Sharp Photoplay Edition bound in original blue cloth with titles stamped in navy on front board and spine. Originally published by the Macmillan Company in 1909 and reprinted several times. The last date on copyright page is 1917 but likely published in 1923 to coincide with the release of the film, (the second of four adaptations in the 20th century), starring Lillian gish who's featured on the front panel of the dust-jacket. 4 photographic plates reproducing scenes from the film which also starred Ronald Coleman. Square, tight and clean throughout with a touch of wear to edges and tips. A couple of small scuffs on rear board. Name lightly written in pencil on front end-paper. Very attractive unclipped, though unpriced, dust-jacket, has some tiny edge-tears and rubbing to hinges. Spine mildly toning. Still fresh, bright and quite pleasing. A very pretty collectable copy.
