Contents page has white sticker near gutter, probably covering some library markings. Text is unmarked. Binding is sound. 8vo. BOOK INFO: 'At a time when the study of Ockham's thought in its different facets is becoming more intensive, an attempt to present his outlook as a whole may not be inappropriate. Over a thinker as distinctive as Ockham there are bound to be varying, if not conflicting, judgements. But I hope I have at least presented the issues which engaged his thought and the manner in which he responded to them.' (-from the preface by the author) William of Ockham (c. 1287 ? 1347) was an English Franciscan friar and scholastic philosopher and theologian, who is believed to have been born in Ockham, a small village in Surrey. He is considered to be one of the major figures of medieval thought and was at the centre of the major intellectual and political controversies of the 14th century. Includes subject index.
