About This Item

New York: George H. Doran Company, 1925. 1st Edition . Hardcover. VG-/Poor. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover with dust jacket. Contains tipped in presentation note from the Reverend S. Parkes Cadman from the Central Congregational Church of New York. Dust jacket is in poor shape and is in two pieces, DJ has been placed in a protective sleeve after photos were taken. Red cloth boards underneath shows fading/dampstain along the top edge though is mainly limited to the corners and spine area. This issue does not affect the interior pages. The internal binding is good and text pages are tight, no hinge issues. Front pastedown contains the bookplate of Professor W. H. Stout as well as the business card from Reverend Cadman. The opposite front end page has a partial sheet that is tipped in which shows the book given as a Christmas gift by the Reverend. This letter is on the church letterhead and is signed. The front pastedown has a note written along the top in pencil and there is some check marks and pencil underlining present. The underlining appears to be limited to the first five chapters and is done in pencil with some pages containing several sentences being underlined. This penciling can be erased if desired. First edition thus with a single publication date of September 1925 appearing on the copyright page.

Terms of Sale

Yesterday's Book Shop (Member IOBA)

Purchases will ship by US Media Mail or Priority Mail (if buyer selects) and higher priced items may have insured placed on the order and will typically ship within one business day. Additional postage may be required for multiple volume books or books weighing over 5 lbs., but only in unusual cases. Insurance is available upon request though we normally place insurance on any item of $75 or higher at no additional cost to the buyer. Non-US sales will ship by First Class International or Global Priority. Additional postage may be required for multiple volume books or books weighing over 4 lbs.

We always take extra care in packaging and shipping. Books are typically wrapped in packing paper or bubblewrap before packaged in a sturdt shipping box. All orders, even those shipped by US Media Mail, will be given a USPS tracking number which will be sent to the buyer so they will know when to expect arrival. Please let us know if there is a book with incorrect or missing photos. We recently moved the inventory to Biblio and a title or two may have had issues with the photos being transferred over.

Yesterday's Book shop is owned and operated by a disabled veteran. Due to my limitations, I often have to rely on speech-to-text software to list the books. If the description has typos ("and pages" instead of "end pages", pace downs instead of pastedowns, guilt instead of gilt, etc,) PLEASE let me know so I can correct the listing. The software spells words by phonetics and can make errors that I may not catch.

There is a 30 day money back guarantee if the book arrives damaged or is not as described. Please contact us prior if you have any issues with your purchases and we will make sure you are taken care of.

About Yesterday's Book Shop (Member IOBA)

Yesterday's Book Shop is an independent, family-owned establishment. The store first opened in 1966 under the name Collector's Corner and was located in Western Maryland. The Collector's Corner dealt mainly in books but also sold stamps and assorted ephemera. In 1975 the name was changed to Yesterday's Book Shop when the store only offered books and printed matter. In the early 2000s the brick and mortar store was closed and now we only sell online.

All of the book pictures were taken at the time the book was listed and we never use generic or stock photos in any listing. If you would like additional photos or information on any listing please let us know and we will be more than happy to comply.
