Twenty-five poems, the author's first substantial book (and the first hardcover publication issued by the Fantasy Press). The first and second states comprised only 305 copies in total and can be differentiated only by the textual correction (the publisher Oscar Mellor believed the two states could be identified by the slightly different shade of yellow cloth they were bound in, but Gunn's bibliographer Jack Hagstrom has suggested that this is probably not the case). Small 8vo. 112pp. Yellow pebbled cloth, a little marked, handled and soiled, lettered and ruled in gold at the upper board and with a small gilt vignette of the sun. Blind rule to the rear board. Some spotting to the endpapers and, lightly, to occasional text leaves. Binding just a little tender in places. A nice bright copy. With the bookplates of noted bibliophile and bibliographic scholar Simon Novel-Smith and his wife Judith Adams. Fifty-one poems. Extremely uncommon..

Winchester School of Art Press, [1984?]. Book. Near Fine. Hardcover. Signed by Illustrator(s). 1st Edition. First edition, limited to fifty numbered copies (this being #19). A suite of ten loose folding sheets of 250gsm BFK Rives paper, with a poem to each verso and an etching to the adjacent recto, each signed by the artist, and housed in the original folding cloth-covered and blind-lettered portfolio with linen ties. A hint of browning and spotting to the extreme edges of several sheets, else a fine copy of a scarce and very elegant production, which includes signed etchings by noted Irish-Scots artist and Aosdána member William Crozier, and print maker Elaine Shemilt, plus Frances Caynes, Lorraine Dabin, Camilla Edwards, Richard Harvey, James Heward, Sarah James, Ruth O Dell and Andrew Smith. The poets contributing are Fleur Adcock, Alan Brownjohn, Keven Crossley-Holland, Vicki Feaver, Jeremy Hooker, Glyn Hughes, John Mole, Andrew Motion, Judith Nutter and Ted Walker..

Third edition (published two months after the October 1917 first edition and identical to it in every respect bar a single tiny textual correction to the printer's imprint). 8vo. 63pp. Paper-covered boards with a slightly rubbed and tanned paper spine label. Tissue-protected photographic portrait frontispiece of the author taken by Duncan Williams. Spine ends and corner tips a little rubbed, and with several small areas of surface abrasion. A little light spotting and browning to the endpapers. A very good copy. Sixty-four poems, a swift reprint of the author's first regularly published collection of verse (the first edition of October 1917 was in the press when Thomas was killed in France). A very good copy in nicked, rubbed and marked, slightly creased, chipped and dusty dust wrapper which repeats the Lovat Fraser design, browned at the spine and at some edges and with the publisher's price sticker to the front panel. Slim 8vo. 70pp. Orange cloth lettered in gold at the spine. Top edge very lightly dust marked and with a small area of spotting to the front pastedown and endpaper. Very good indeed in non-price-clipped dust wrapper, a little darkened to several edges and with a touch of spotting to the rear panel and a centimetre or so of loss to the head of the spine panel and one or two other tiny fractions of loss to extremities. Publisher's compliments slip laid-in stating "With Compliments of the author" (the first two words printed, the final three typed). Thirty-one poems. 1,200 copies were printed..

Limited to 100 numbered copies, signed and dated by the author (this being #42). Royal 8vo. [8pp] stapled into card wrappers featuring a reproduction of a sixteenth-century woodcut taken from Foxe's 'Book of Martyrs', repeated on the first leaf. The wrappers lightly tanned and with a touch of light edge-creasing, and some surface abrasion to the verso of the first leaf where is appears a bookplate has been carefully removed. These are either new staples, or they were at some point repositioned. A nice, crisp copy of this uncommon item, somewhat more so that the uncorrected first issue (the poem was included in Hughes' debut collection 'The Hawk in the Rain'.
