The tan covers and brown spine are in very good condition, with minor bumping on top and bottom of spine. The title, author, and publisher in gold on spine. Colophon of the publisher is stamped on the bottom page edges. The dust jacket is generally in very good condition; there is one small tear (1/2 ") and some glue residue from a sticker on the back of the dust jacket. There is some very minor fraying in spots along the edge of the jacket. The jacket is intact, with the price ($19.95) on the inside flap. The dust jacket is protected in a clear, archival removable cover. The binding is solid. The interior of this book is in very good plus condition. The inner front and rear covers and endpapers are blue. There is no writing, staining or foxing detected in this book. The pages are very clean and bright, a few of the pages near the end are creased at the top. The book includes many b/w photographs and 24 color plates with photographs; nearly all of the photographs were taken by the author. Range maps were produced by Mada Harrison.
