About This Item

New York: Oxford University Press, 1939. Hardcover. Very Good. First edition. Octavo. 127pp. Illustrated. Publisher's blue cloth with spine gilt. Unobtrusive bookplate on front pastedown, "Bruce Rogers Coll." stamped in tiny letters on front endpaper. Of the 768 numbered items, approximately half with the number neatly circled with a magenta stamp (likely the work of a collector?), and pp.41-42 torn halfway, lengthwise. Very good, lacking the dustwrapper. This copy notable because, tipped-on to the rear pastedown, is a 1938 invitation, from both the AIGA and the Grolier Club, to a private viewing of the show (oddly, "Admit One"). Invitation is a small bifolium, illustated with two cuts, fine save for being tipped-in to the volume. A welcome addition to an expansive catalog of a master's work.
