Edinburgh: A. Donaldson, 1771. Hardcover. Fifth edition. 12 Volume set. Tan leather binding. No dust jacket. Ridged spines. Edge-worn boards with numerous scores. Several marks, stains and minor abrasions on boards. Spines are worn, cracked and rubbed. Spine ends are worn, chipped and rubbed. Leading corners are worn, bumped and split. Small abrasion on title plate of Vol. 1. Several tape repairs on upper part of spine of Vol. 2. Leather binding on central section of spine of Vol. 6 is missing. Title plate and uppermost part of leather binding on spine of Vol. 8 are partly detached from book spine. Upper part of right edge of spine of Vol. 12 is detached from book spine. Rear board of Vol. 7 is warped. Bookplate of former owner on all front pastedowns. Name and marginalia of another former owner, dated 1840, is penned on FEP of Vol. 1. Name of a third former owner, dated 1783, is penned on FEP of Vol. 6 and title pages of Vols. 9, 6 and 5. Front hinges of all volumes apart from Vols. 11 and 12 are cracked. Rear hinges of Vols. 3, 4, 5, 7, 9 and 10 are cracked. Frontispiece of Vol. 1 is almost completely detached from book spine. FEP of Vol. 2 is almost completely detached from book spine. Lower half of FEP of Vol. 5 is missing. Small tears on FEPs of Vols. 6 and 3. Slight penned marginalia on FEP of Vol. 7. Tear on FEP of Vol. 8 and on leading edge of BEP of Vol. 10. Pages are somewhat foxed. Binding is generally intact, and is slightly loose only at one or two points. Text remains clear. AF. hardcover. Acceptable. Used.

Returning unwanted goods

7 days to cancel purchase for non-faulty goods

You will be responsible for the cost of returning the item to us, unless we delivered it to you in error or it is faulty. It is your responsibility to ensure safe return of the item.

If you return a high-value item, we recommend you use a recorded delivery service. Once we've received your item, we'll refund the same means of payment as you used to make your purchase. This returns guarantee doesn't affect your statutory rights and therefore doesn't affect your right of cancellation described above.

Emails are usually answered within 24 hours, except at weekends.Shipping/Delivery TimesWe ship orders from Monday to Friday and all orders received and paid for before 3:00pm are sent the same day. Orders placed on weekends or Bank Holidays are shipped the following business day.

UK packages are sent via Royal Mail. International orders are shipped via Royal Mail's airmail service. Expedited courier deliveries can be arranged. Please contact us for a quote.

Heavy orders (over 5kg UK or international) are usually shipped via private couriers. If your order is for a particularly heavy book or a volume set, please contact us with your shipping address and we will quote your total cost - the price of your order plus shipping costs - before you place your order.

Postal Insurance and special delivery is available at extra cost - simply let us know and we'll quote your total order amount, including p&p for whatever service you require.
