This antique hardcover 15-volume set is bound in green cloth boards with gilt spine lettering and decoration, gilt top of pages, rough cut pages. This is a complete set of the Riverby Edition of the collected works of John Burroughs. Illustrated with photos and plates. Frontis Picture is tissue guarded. The set is in Fine + condition overall; some very minor edgewear, corners bumped, previous owners name on inside blank page. Many books appear never to have been read, as the spine is very tight. Each book is approx. 5"x7.5". Books titles included are: Indoor Studies, Birds and Poets, Fresh Fields, The Summit of the Years, Time and Change, Pepacton, Signs and Seasons, Locusts and Wild Honey, Ways of Nature, Winter Sunshine, Wake-Robin, Literary Values, Riverby, Far and Near, Leaf and Tendril The 15 volume Riverby set of the works of this important American naturalist and essayist was an important part of the late nineteenth and early twentieth century US conservation movement. Highly popular for his nature essays during his lifetime, he enjoyed a reputation as a master of the genre, second only to Thoreau. AB34
