The text is illustrated with black and white photographs and illustrations and the occasional colour photograph and coloured botanical drawings. Green coloured boards with gilt coloured titles to the back strip. Photographic dustwrapper with black and white coloured titles to the front panel and black coloured titles to the back strip. A small history on the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew, leading onto a '' ... conducted tour of the plants of the world assembled there. Describing some of the exotic and unusual is theses known to man, he vividly evokes their natural habitats, showing their most interesting characteristics and pointing out some of their oddities as well as their beauties. " – from front fold over panel blurb. Rubbing of the book edges and of the back strip edges. Age toning of the text block edges and lighter age toning of the pages. Some creasing of the dustwrapper edges and rubbing of the panels. There is a piece missing from the top left hand corner of the front panel measuring 2" x .25'', with associated creasing; there is a small piece missing from the top right hand corner of the rear panel and there are a couple of tears to the top dustwrapper edge.
