About This Item
Gerry Glaskin's first book. Published by James Barrie in 1955. 8vo, 398p, hard cover. This book was acclaimed by the critics as 'heralding a new novelist'. The book has minor edge wear and the end papers have some age related yellowing. The binding is straight and tight. It is SIGNED to Ruby Wetherall (Beecham). Ruby was Glaskin's proof reader and close friend until his death in 2000. The inside front cover has a small inscription to Ruby from her dad and Ruby's name and address are neatly written on the FEP. Glaskin's inscription is on the title page. The dust jacket has a small section from the top of the spine missing and a small section from the lower back cover. Edges are chipped as well. Glaskin's portrait is unaffected. This is a rare collector's piece because of its links to one of Gerry's closest and dearest friends. Other similar Glaskin books are also available.
