Spine firm, bright gilt title there-on. Minor flecks on text-block foredge, otherwise leaves clean. Illustrated (Pictorial front, Art, 'Biro' rear) dustjacket mildly edgeworn, and price-clipped. The 'Amsterdam' was a Dutch East Indiaman that set out on her maiden voyage in 1748, fully laden with a rich cargo and silver bullion, together with more than 300 people. In the English Channel, she encountered an extreme force gale, and she was beached near Hastings, on the English coast in Sussex. This is the story of her rediscovery, and her valuable cargo . . .
