A lovely copy of this profusely illustrated work on twentieth century drawings and watercolour paintings, translated from the original French. A translated edition of this illustrated work in the publisher's original cloth binding, with the original price-clipped dust wrapper. Illustrated with 114 plates in colour, and 84 drawings in two tones. Collated, complete. A richly illustrated, sweeping survey of twentieth-century drawing and watercolour painting, including famous artwork by notable artists such as Chagall, Kandinsky, Klee, Matisse, Munch, Picasso, and many others. Topics include Expressionism, Cubism, Realism, Surrealism and various uses for art in the twentieth century. This work was written by Raymond Cogniat (1896-1977), a French art critic and historian, and has been translated from the original French by Anne Ross. Undated, dated through copies held at the University of Oxford Libraries. In the publisher's original cloth binding, with the original price-clipped dust wrapper.
