Signed by Maclean on front free endpaper with brief inscription "With best wishes Fitzroy Maclean, May 1970." Personal library stamp of Ambassador William Leonhart at bottom of front free endpaper and on back pastedown.
Tall quarto; 296pp. Photo-illustrated dust jacket with £3 3s price intact. Book in blue cloth with gilt lettering and decoration. Jacket shows a few light scuffs along edges with a small puncture and surrounding abrasion over Y on spine. Boards are sturdy with some fading along edges and a faint bow at fore-edge. Binding is sound and pages unmarked.
Maclean was a legendary diplomat who was a founding member of Britain's elite Special Air Service commandos and was a model for James Bond. Leonhart served as the United States ambassador to Yugoslavia from 1969-1971.
