Honolulu: Honpa Hongwanji Mission of Hawai'i, 2000. Hardcover. 155p., hardcover in dust jacket, 11.25x11.5 inches, very good. First edition, first printing. Illustrated profusely with b&w photographs and portraits of the honorees. Starting in 1976, the Honpa Hongwanji Mission of Hawai'i has chosen residents of Hawai'i to honor as "Living Treasures". The program was inspired by Japan's Living National Treasure awards, and past honorees have included figures such as the architect and artist Isamu Noguchi and the author Maxine Hong Kingston.
