Decorative gilt boarders on front and back boards. Very minor staining on front board. Gilt decoration, title and publishing date in roman numerals on spine. Gilt edges. Dark red coated end papers. 52 B/W woodcut illustrations throughout text. 11 tissued guarded copper plates, which includes 6 frontispieces. Some minor foxing throughout. Fore-edge watercolour painting by Henry Thomas Alken (1785-1851) depicting "Fishing in a Punt" featured in "The National Sports of Great Britain". In very good+ condition.
