Second. hardcover. very good(+). 2 volumes, 12 + 6 folding plates. 4to, bound in 1/2 brown morocco (rubbed), marbled boards with the original printed green wrappers bound in. Paris: Gautier-Villars, 1865. Deuxieme Edition, Revue, Corrigee et Augmentee. The interior is bright and crisp with wide margins. Very good (+).<br/> <br/> The origin of projective geometry is ascribed to Poncelet. In the above great work (first published in 1822) he made prominent for the first time the power of central projection in demonstration and the power of the principle of continuity in research.<br/> <br/>
