There is a fair bit of whitish mottling to the boards and spine. 508pp. + numerous crisp fold-out maps in colour. No prev ownership marks or o/w. The pocket for the large, folded, colour wall chart on the rear pastedown has been removed but the chart, now loosely inserted, is present and undamaged. Heavy book. Scarce.

These two books were published some 25 years or more before Breytenbach's magisterial and authoritative History of the Anglo Boer War. They are, in a sense, a precursor. Volume I: 'Voorspel Tot die Stryd'. The boards have wear and scuffing. They are patient and benign. The contents are in pleasing condition. The pages are clean and clear and placid. Vol II: 'Ontplooiing van die Boere-Offensief Oktober 1899' (pub: 1949). The condition is very similar to that of Volume I. The boards are a little more worn, the contents a little more smart. fk.
