Boston, Massachusetts: J.E. Tilton & Co, 1862. First Edition. Hardcover. Fair. A fabulous original record of the time. 24mo, 5 1/4" tall, 340 + ads pages, black leather. A fair copy only, front cover and back strip missing; internally very good minus, binding is solid, paper light to moderately yellowed, generally clean, and marked by some scattered foxing, but penciled numbers on blank memoranda pages and fore-edges darkened. Includes 10 pages of ads on color stock and 52 pages of advertisements on white stock plus a short business index, and a listing of Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut Volunteers (these are the regiments who went to war). This copy would require restoration and is priced accordingly.

Condition is GOOD ; spine cloth gone but binding is sturdy, a bit pulled at the central part of text but holding well. Map is excellent. Some notes on calendar pgs. Text overall clean, a bit toned. Boston: John P. Jewett & Co, (1852). Hardcover. Very good. 24mo. (8 cm x 13 cm). 180pp followed by an additional 10pp of ads. Fold-out engraved map as frontispiece (27 cm x 25 cm). Recto shows the railroad and telegraph lines for all New England. Verso shows street map of Boston. Original publisher's green cloth binding with blindstamped decorations on boards. Front board also has lettering and decoration stamped in gold. Endpapers and two additional leaves at front and rear in glossy blue paper with gilt printing. This includes a number of engraved illustrations of Boston area churches. A few ink spots on binding and spots on edges; page 93 shows evidence of minor tape repair. Otherwise, the binding is tight and the extremities show little or no wear. Overall, a very good copy.

Boston: Brown Taggard, & Chase, 1860. Hardcover. Very Good. 24mo - over 5" - 5¾" tall. 255pp. Stamped cloth, gilt lettering, folding map of Boston bound-in. Covers are faded and very lightly rubbed, text is age-toned and clean. Owner wrote many weather entries on memoranda pages. Folding map has slight edge stain and is in otherwise sound condition. Many ads and much information.

Boston: John P. Jewett, 1855. First Edition. Hardcover. Fair. 16mo. Approx. 5.5" x 3.25". [8] pages of advertisements precede the title page. 240 pages. Brown cloth stamped covers with gilt stamped title on the front. Special maroon paper with gold stamped advertisements located on the front paste down, one leave prior to the title page, one leave after page 240, and on the rear paste down. Rest of the advertisements are printed on yellow paper. Folded map, approx. 10" x 11", is present with light edge wear to the paper. Front hinge cracked and the cover is slightly loose. Exposed binding cords in front. Contents include 12 pages of hand written manuscript in the monthly memoranda section. Light shelf wear and fading to the cloth binding.

Schofield front pastedown, light overall page toning, small offset stain rear pastedown. Yearly by S. N. Dickinson from 1836 to 1849, then continuing on with different publishers sporadically through the1890's with several subtitle changes. Both this and the 1863 edition has full rosters of New England Regiments of Volunteers for The Civil War by state. Additionally both editions were not issued frontis folding maps due to Civil War paper shortages..
