Two full page steam engine plates at front and numerous text illustrations throughout. Some minor foxing. intro page vii-viii with clean tear repaired. Overall a very good copy of a scarce edition. John Lee Comstock (1787-1858) American surgeon and educator. Published more than 20 books primarily on botany chemistry natural history and physiology. In 1828 Comstock was issued the first patent in the US for the waterproofing of cloth or leather.

Robinson, Pratt & Co, 1835. Hardcover. Acceptable. No jacket, possibly as issued. The boards are heavily worn but are only lightly warped, with heavy bumping/rounding to the corners, top and bottom of spine, and some general soiling and wear across both covers. Spine is solid, and the text block is firmly attached. Interior text block is heavily foxed throughout, light enough that text is still legible but the entire text block is affected by it. Overall the text block is also is heavily toned, and is soiled along the top edge of the text block. Previous owners' name written in several places on first two pages. Jacket Condition: No Jacket. Size: 12mo - 6 3/4 in - 7 3/4 in. Year: 1835.

Contemporary leather over boards with leather spine label. Binding modestly rubbed with a bit of loss at the corners, likely lacking flyleaves, light to moderate foxing throughout, tiny splits at the crown, very good and sound.
