New York: The Natural Science Association of America, 1895. Hardcover. Poor. Folio. (192) pages. Hardcover bound in half leather and burgundy cloth-covered boards. The binding shows heavy wear, and the boards are detached and soiled with old damping to the front cover. The first few and last few pages are detached. Front flyleaves detached, torn and chipped. There is some damping at the top corner at the front of the book, affecting the frontis (Bald Eagle plate), title page, and about the first 20 plates. There is also some damping towards the rear, mostly staying in the fore edge margin. Includes a systematic table of the birds of North America prepared by Frank M. Chapman, and 119 full-page chromolithographic plates from paintings by Theodore Jasper. Many illustrations depict aspects of behavior, unlike some ornithological references which feature primarily posed images.
