This is the 18th number in this well known series of life histories of North American birds. The allies referred to in the title include such formes as the accentor, pipits, waxwings, the phainopepla, starling, and Bahama honeycreeper. All species and their geographical forms are treated as in previous numbers. The original price for these were $1.50; because of popularity they sold out quickly. This copy seems to be uncirculated as many of the pages remain uncut. Arthur Cleveland Bent (1866 1954) was an American ornithologist. He is notable for his encyclopedic 21-volume work, Life Histories of North American Birds, published 1919-1968 and completed posthumously, which received the John Burroughs Medal in 1940.; 8vo .
