Chicago: Arrco Playing Card Company, 1953. FIRST EDITION THUS, FIRST PRINTING THUS. Hardcover. Very Good. HATFIELD BOOKS AND MEMORABILIA, a FIVE STAR SELLER, presents CRAWFORD'S CONTRACT BRIDGE. "AMERICA'S TOP RANKING PLAYER" in the mid Twentieth Century, as printed on the front cover of this book, was JOHN R CRAWFORD. In this RARE FIRST EDITION of his book, Mr. Crawford explains in great detail how to win at contract bridge. There are a number of reprints by Grosset and Dunlap available, but this FIRST EDITION, printed on the presses of a major playing card company to help promote their business, is RARE. 5 3/8" x 8 1/8" hard cover, 367 pages (including index), with no dust jacket. Overall condition is VERY GOOD. Pages = Very Good Plus: lightly tanned, outer edges moderately stained, 1/4" tear on edge of final fep, else tight, sharp, clear, with no marks. Cover (grey cloth boards with particulars and designs in red and black) = Good Plus: spine frayed at top and bottom, spine moderately stained, front has several stain spots, corners bumped, yet tight, square, clear print and color, no chips or additional marks.
