Lacks title page (and covers if any). Ca. 9 x 13 inches. In French. In these lithographs all kinds of hapless riders and drivers, in town and country, come to grief in many imaginative ways. The scenes are numbered 1 through 22, and 29-30. This is item 361 in the magnificent Dejager collection, Great Books on Horsemanship. Greer Allen was a legendary book designer and University Printer to Yale University. As a young man he worked on the racetrack and rode steeplechasers for 5 years until his printing firm-employer ordered him to stop because the injuries were interfering with his day job. This pamphlet was published as a memorial tribute to him. It reprints one of his popular lectures, which applied racetrack life-lessons to the problems facing graphic designers. Slightly shaken, first gathering detached, guardsheets over color plates torn, pencil scribbling on endpapers and in some margins, ink stamp of former owner. Covers rubbed. No jacket, if issued. Photographic survey of Japanese buildings and monuments of the 6th through 12th centuries, with a focus on wooden construction.  Also screens, tile work, stone monuments, and other structures.  The author was a professor of architecture at the University of Kyoto.  He writes that he had always wanted to include as many illustrations as possible in his books, without success.  When Hoshino Publishing approached him about publishing a collection of photographs, he jumped at the chance.  He prepared five more volumes under the same overall title, treating the later periods.
