First Edition, second issue (with 4 line colophon and The Book Press), however, this copy is signed boldly by the author, "love, Roald Dahl" on the front free endpaper and signed by the illustrator, Nancy Ekholm Burkette on the half title page. The book is in excellent condition. The binding is tight and the boards are beautiful. The pages are clean with no marks or bookplates. The original dust jacket has 3.95 price intact. Overall, an exceptional copy.

Dust jacket is fair condition with rubbing on front cover and edges, small chips and some tears at top and bottom of spine, back cover has larger chips and tears along top edge. Inside front flap unclipped with original $2.50 price, back flap has some foxing but clean black & white photo of Dahl with bio.

Very good dust jacket with a tiny chip on back cover top of spine, rubbing/smudging of the "Charles Scribner's Sons, New York" stamp on lower back cover, and 2 tiny spots on front cover. Colors bright, book overall is clean and tight. The author's third book, and first novel.
