Description:
This is a a copy of Women in Love, by the English author D.H. Lawrence. Published in 1920, it is his follow-up to The Rainbow, and continues with the story of the lives of the Brangwen sisters, their relationships and their movements through British society. Both novels were massive best-sellers.
Viking Press was Lawrence's American publisher and published this book's first edition in 1922. Reprints then went through its subsidiary, Grosset & Dunlap. Due to the popularity of the book, it was printed three times in 1922, twice in 1933, and then again in 1930 and 1933. This copy is from the 1933 printing.
It is in good shape. There are small spots on the pages in the first chapter only, and a fingerprint on page 429. No adornment other than the color on the title page.
There are lots of fingerprints on the covers, but it would be worth it to have it cleaned. You can clean it yourself with Absorene, or take it to a printer to do it.
Otherwise excellent condition, with nice bright pages.

Description:
This is a lovely copy of the D.H. Lawrence classic Sons & Lovers, first published in 1913. It is the 3rd novel by Lawrence and chronicles the early years of a young budding artist and his relationship with his mother--it is heavily autobiographical. At the time, it was called 'obscene'; today is it considered a masterpiece and the English author's best work. This copy is from The Observer Classic of the Month Library, published in 1981. It is beautifully designed and produced; light blue boards with a gold design on the cover. The spine is dark blue with gold lettering. The dust jacket is light blue with dark blue type. Inside, the book is pristine, with no marks of any kind on any of the pages. There is an attractive bookplate on the inside front cover, which you can remove. The covers are perfect, with no marks and only the tiniest bit of shelf wear on the bottom of the spine. The dust jacket has a crease or two, it has been taped at the bottom and it has darkened on the spine.

Description:
This is a first edition (1989) of Erotic Works of D.H. Lawrence, Illustrated in Color with the Erotic Paintings of D.H. Lawrence. It includes novels, novellas, short stories, essays and poetry -- see contents photos. D.H. Lawrence (1885-1930) is known as one of the greatest writers of the twentieth century. He was prolific, but is most famous for his novels and controversial writings on erotica, particularly Lady Chatterley's Lover, which was published in Italy and France in the '20s, but not in the UK and US until 1959. Lawrence was also a painter and held a show of his works in London in 1929. The public outrage was so great, the police shut down the exhibit. Those paintings, and his erotic writing are included in this book. It's a thick, heavy book--8" x 9 1/2" and 568 pages. This copy has not been read, or even opened--it still creaks.Aside from some shelf-scuffing to the back of the dust jacket, it is in mint condition.

I have found two other copies online, plus one copy in the Royal Collection, housed at Windsor Castle. It was two volumes; as is the case with the Royal Collection, I have volume I.
It is 231 pages, including 31 pages of plates. Of these, there are 9 chromo-lithographed color plates of uniforms after paintings by the English military illustrator Richard Simkin. There are also portraits, and lots of maps, charts and lists.
The 78th Highland Regiment of Foot was raised in 1793 by Colonel Francis Humberston MacKenzie and Lord Seaforth (Chief of the Clan MacKenzie) at Fort George, some 15 miles northeast of Inverness in the Scottish Highlands. Initially a single regiment of foot, a second battalion was added a year later, but they merged in 1796… Read More

Don became a highly successful landscape photographer in his own right, becoming the first landscape photographer to commercialize his collection of Rocky Mountain photos, which were mostly captured on 4" x 5" transparency film. It is 14" wide and 11" high. With the mat, it is 16 1/2" x 14".The mat glue has dried out and it has come off the mat. This is a lovely leather-bound copy of the classic novel The Scarlet Letter: A Romance, a work of historical fiction by American author Nathaniel Hawthorne (1804-1864).
