Title page soiled, but otherwise pages clean, with all edges uncut and nice wide margins. Scattered light foxing. Library stamp of the London College of Arms, the official repository of coats of arms and pedigrees of English, Welsh, Northern Irish and Commonwealth families, and official copies of the records of Ulster King of Arms. Bound in later black half leather with black cloth boards which are rubbed and lightly worn, mostly at the extremities. ESTCT111946. One of the earliest and most detailed and careful investigations into apostolic succession, preferments and prebends in the English Church.

A very nice early art printing of this collection of religious poetry and verse.

Scattered light foxing, but otherwise pages clean and free of marking, soiling and staining. Bound in maroon marbled boards over black cloth corners and spine. Spine with white label. Covers lightly worn. An interesting German (re)printing of a privately printed argument by a Philadelphian that "stage plays" were contrary to the Christian Religion. Although the argument was not new (it had been a subject of dispute since at least the 16th Century), this particular incarnation was something of a brief cause celebre, with the rather obscure American publication finding a much wider audience through German and French editions. A curious and unusual piece.

Bound in publisher's green cloth with black and gilt decoration and lettering to front cover and spine. Covers lightly worn and soiled and small (1.5 inch) separation in front hinge at head of spine. A very good copy of this scarce history of German Baptists.

A nice copy of this first edition history of the Church in Britain from its inception to the Norman Conquest.

From the Hart Family library (and with an advert for a biography of Hart by one of the authors). Cover and page edges lightly soiled and sooted (apparently from the fire that destroyed much of the Hart library). From the library of Samuel Hart, which experienced a fire that damaged a number of books. As a result, items from Hart's library are extremely rare. Separate title pages for "Additional Hymns" and Catechism, each with separate pagination. Scattered light foxing. Coated end papers discolored. Earlier owner's clipped signature (Abraham Varick) pasted onto ffep. Bound in full green leather with owner's name in gilt stamped on cover, "ABM. VARICK JUNr." Covers with blind tooling and gilt spine lettering. Corners rounded. Abraham Varick was a successful financier prominent in Utica and Oswego area banking and manufacturing ventures, including the Varick Canal, who also served as a director of the American Tract Society. Coated stock end papers suggest the son had his father's book rebound in the 1850s.
