The Magic Fishbone was written by Charles Dickens in 1867, under the pseudonym "Miss Alice Rainbird, aged 7". One of four so-called "holiday romances" (including a Christmas Carol), it was first published in an American children's magazine, and subsequently "All the Year Round".

No inscriptions apart from the pencil ownership name of the Swiss graphic designer Walter Herdeg to rear flap of dustwrapper. and price 25/- in pencil to front flap of endpaper.Imre Reiner (1900-1987) was a Hungarian - Swiss typographer, painter, artist, woodcut illustrator, and graphic designer, known for his Meridian and Corvinus fonts. He best work was in Stuttgart and in Switzerland, with stints in London and New York. His wife Hedwig was also a designer and collaborated on a number of his books.Walter Herdeg (1908 – 1995) was a Swiss graphic designer, noted for his travel posters and work with Graphis Magazine, who was awarded an AIGA medal in 1986.

With early depiction of a stethoscope.Laennec is remembered for his invention of the stethoscope and for his book on auscultation. This work is the foundation stone of modern knowledge of diseases of the chest.

No other inscriptionsBronson is one of the highest-profile criminals in Britain and has been featured in books, interviews, and studies in prison reform and treatment. He was the subject of the 2008 film Bronson starring Tom Hardy, a biopic based loosely around his life. An African adventure based on Biblical royalty, previously serialised in Nash's Magazine. Haggard originally wanted to use the title Maqueda, but was persuaded to adopt this title by Eveleigh Nash. 7600 domestic copies were printed on the 10 September 1910 with the Nash imprint, two days after the U. S. edition.

Boards are heavily rubbed. Front hinge is separating, at the frontispiece. Foxing to prelims & last page. Printed boards with red, white and blue upper board with gilt titles and figure of a redcoat of the 1890s to the bottom corner, six-pointed star and 'SR' to lower board. Photographic frontis & black & white woodblock illustrations. Sarah Robinson, a temperance activist, established institutes for the use of soldiers and sailors. This particular volume of her writings was only available through the first of these in Portsmouth.
