The first half of this book is a detailed description of the beaver and of beaver-trapping; and the second half entitled " Other Sketches" includes memoirs of trapping various species in Iowa, Nebraska, and North Dakota in the 1860's and 1870's, along with other pieces on local natural history and the game laws.
