London: Preliminary Committee for the Founding of a New Lettrist International, nd. 8 1/2 x 11" leaflet, printed in black on yellow paper. Leaflet announcing the inauguration of the Bardic Chair of Caer Ruis, in order to facilitate the founding of a New Lettrist International. Quotes from Giordano Bruno, Isidore Isou, and Robert Chasse. Very good with some minor creasing.

Paris: Comite d'occupation de la Sorbonne, 1968. 8 1/4 x 10 5/8", mimeographed from typescript on watermarked "BFK Reeves Extra Strong" paper. A tract issued at 3:30 PM, May 16, 1968, calling for the occupation of all factories in France and the formation of worker's councils following the occupation of the Sud Aviation factory and other factories across France. The Sorbonne Occupation Committee had been formed three days prior, on May 13, following the withdrawal of police from the Latin Quarter. Despite the brevity and diminuitive appearance of the tract, it is one of the key documents of the events of May 1968, laying the groundwork for the formation of the CMDO by the committee the very next evening. The tract is transcribed in Vienet [Vienet, p. 265] and is the first tract included in Section II, devoted to the tracts issued jointly by the CMDO and Situationist International. Folded twice, with additional handling creases, very good.

np: [jwcurry], 2007. 5 1/2 x 8 1/2" broadside, mimegraphed on card stock with a single rubberstamped element to map. Signed. The leaflet announcing this reading of bpNicholl's Martyrology, with a map at verso showing the location of the reading. Fine.

Girard, Kansas: Haldeman-Julius, nd. 24mo (5 x 3 1/2"), saddle-stapled wraps. Gibbs 21a, third noted variation, in the PPS(3) binding. Merrimee's classic Romantic novella, one of the earliest titles in the series. Very good with some minor toning and a light bump to upper tip.

New York: Printed Matter, 1982. First edition. 4to, 72 pp, saddle-stapled wraps. Profusely illustrated in black and white. Early catalog from the legendary artists' book shop,including artists' books, artists' periodicals and artists' audioworks. Cover mostly detached, thus good only, but clean and complete.

London: Weinreb & Douwma Ltd, n.d.. Oblong 8vo, [20] pp, saddle-stapled in card wraps. Illustrated with several monochrome reproductions. The second catalogue issued by the firm contains detailed descriptions of 75 items, including maps, plans, and views. and is a valuable cartographic resource filled with a wealth of bibliographic data. Fine.

London: Bernard Quaritch, 1967. First edition. 8vo, 69 pp, saddle-stapled wraps. Illustrated with 5 plates and reproductions in the text Offers 366 items in the Italian Renaissance, all carefully described. Very good.

Girard, Kansas: Haldeman-Julius, 1923. First edition. 24mo (5 x 3 1/2"), saddle-stapled wraps. Gibbs 334, first edition, in the first state for both contents and wrapper. Collects two eccentric stories written by the husband and wife team, which first appeared in Atlantic Monthly and here appeared under the authors' own imprint, the Five Cent Pocket Series, which was a predecessor to their Little Blue Books series. Very good with minor toning to extremities.

Brussels, 1966. 8 1/2 x 13", mimeographed from typescript and drawing on recto only in Dutch and French. Invitation for this early Belgian Provo happening, a circle of freedom to be created on Saturday, November 5 at the Place de la Brouckère. Creased, with some short nicks else very good.

New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 1980. First edition. Paperback. Narrow 4to bound in green printed wraps. An early state of this uncorrected proof, which contains the story "You Lay Down by Your Side," excised by the publisher from most copies. The published version of the book contained no mention of the story, and to our knowledge the story has not been published elsewhere in English. The title of the story is struck through in red pencil on the table of contents, and in one other place there is a sentence underlined in the same pencil. Quite scarce, and likely the first state of the proof; we've handled other copies of the proof which lacked the story, and this is the only copy of the proof we have seen with the story intact. Some soiling and staining to the wraps and edges of the text block, 1/2" closed tear to front panel at head of spine, sticker remnant from first blank, and a pencilled note to first blank describing the proof contents; about very good.

Versailles, PA: McCheese Enterprises, 1974. First edition. 4to, photo-mechanically reproduced and side-stapled. Addressed by hand and postmarked on back cover. Debut issue of the proto-punk music fanzine devoted to late 1960's rock music. This issue takes a rather indepth dive into the history of Ultimate Spinach, some on Autosalvage.... "Fine debut here, with feature coverage of Ultimate Spinach (yeah , really!) Autosalvage and other late '60s trivia." - Greg Shaw, in BOMP 13. Some light overall creasing. Very good.

np, nd [c. late 19th century]. 6 x 9" broadside, printed in English with Chinese letters at left margin. Complete with both original sensitive leaves, each printed on thin glassine paper hand-painted with red pigment. Lacking the original envelope. Sensitive leaves were a fortune-telling device by which the temperament of a subject could be ascertained when the glassine leaf was placed into the palm of a hand, and the degree and manner in which it curled or was otherwise animated. The division of personality was based upon the humors, revealing a sanguine, choleric, phlegmatic, or melancholy disposition. This particular version is attributed to one Yang-Hou, of Kiagnen, China, and is one of several which were attributed to a Chinese source, sometimes with racist caricatures such as the second of the two leaves. Both leaves fine. The broadside has several old fold lines, with a couple small holes at folds and a small bit missing at one tip, else very good.

Illustrated with a frontispiece photograph of Albert Poisson, and photographs of Papus and August Strindberg. With a preface by Papus. Text in French. First edition of this work on tarot and alchemy by the French occultist and editor of L'Hyperchimie. Castellot was heavily influenced by Charles Fourier, and was for a time a member of the SFIC (French Section of the Communist International) until he was excluded in 1922. Castellot was a devotee of the monadist philosophy Hylozoism, the belief that all matter is in some way alive, and this perspective underlies his work on alchemy, hermeticism, and spiritual communism. Today he is best remembered for being a mentor to August Strindberg, but his unique body of work is long overdue for a rediscovery and translation, in particular this unusual work, which attempts to outline the alchemical correspondences of both the major arcana and the suits.… Read More

np, 1988. 8 1/2 x 11" flyer, inkjet printedin 4 colors. Rubberstamped date of October 1988 to lower left margin. Early flyer for an early BBS devoted to "uncut men and their fans." Very early BBS ephemera from the dial-up modem days, now a rare physical artifact straddling two worlds and pointing towards a milieu that is completely disappeared. A couple light creases else fine.

New York, 1981. 8 1/2 x 11" flyer, photo-mechanically reproduced on recto only from a photograph by Donna McAdams. A flyer for the 1981 Coney Island Show, one of the groundbreaking independent art shows - along with the Times Square Show - that changed the NYC art world at the dawn of the 1980's. Heavy overall creasing, with some minor toning to extremities - ragged and worn.

Cambridge & Gloucester: The Curiously Strong, 1970. First edition. Foolscap, four leaves mimeographed from typescript and stapled once at the upper left hand corner. This issue is notable for including a poem by the great Rolf-Dieter Brinkmann, entitled Cold, here translated by John James, and other contributions from Paul Selby, Derek Willey, & John James. Fine.

Cambridge & Gloucester: The Curiously Strong, 1970. First edition. Foolscap, seven leaves mimeographed from typescript and one drawing, and stapled once at the upper left hand corner. This issue prints J.H. Prynne's poem "A New Tax on the Counter-Earth," and other contributions from Barry MacSweeney and Fred Buck. Near fine with a narrow strip of soiling along upper margin and some minor staple indentations.
