Original folding exhibition leporello catalogue published on the occasion of an exhibition held at the Staatliche Kunsthalle, Baden-Baden, Feb. 12-27, 1966 (the exhibition, which began at the Jewish Museum in New York the previous summer, also travelled to the Moderna Museet, Stockholm, the Stedeldijk Museum, Amsterdam, and the Galleria Nazionale d’Arte Moderna, Rome). Features a reproduction of Rosenquist’s famed huge painting titled F-111 on one side. Folding out to eight sections, on the reverse is printed an essay (in German) by Rolf-Gunter Dienst. This tenth issue of the Fluxus newspaper came about at the suggestion of George Brecht. He, Geoffrey Hendricks, and several other Fluxus artists were organising a Festschrift to honour George Maciunas, which included original contributions for a collective box, ‘Laudatio Scripta Pro George.’ Robert Watts and Sara Seagull were given these contributions to reproduce, from which they edited and designed a newspaper published in time for the Festschrift in New York, May 2, 1976. It contains contributions from a close group of international artist friends; poems, letters, drawings, paintings, photographs, reviews, as well as her life story shown in images, including her infamous hortisculptures. London.: Institute of Contemporary Arts (ICA)., 1958. Four panel folding sheet, printed in red and black, designed by Richard Smith.. (25.5 x 17 cm, folding out to 25.5 x 68 cm).. Exhibition brochure for the landmark exhibition held at London’s ICA, January - February 1958. The exhibition at the ICA offered the young artists the opportunity to show at this important avant-garde centre. Roger Coleman, in the catalogue’s introduction, echoes Independent Group preoccupations when he explains that these artists: ‘… regard “Astounding Science Fiction” as more essential reading than say, Roger Fry’. The exhibition is noteworthy as being the first catalogue in which the great British pop artist Peter Blake appears. Amongst his eleven works exhibited are the now famous paintings ‘On the Balcony’, ‘Strong Man’, and ‘Bearded Lady’. This copy of the catalogue from the collection of the British artist Anthony Hill, with his name stamp on the front cover.

Milan.: (Published by the artist)., 1990. Original glossy printed wrappers.. (27 x 20.5 cm).. pp. 184. When he relocated to Milan in the late 1980s, Maurizio Cattelan became fascinated with the monthly art magazine, Flash Art. In 1990, he gathered copies of the publication, faced them on to an aluminium skeleton, and stacked them into a house of cards-style pyramid. The photo he took of his creation, entitled ‘Strategie’ was seemingly featured here on the cover of the magazine’s 155th edition in 1990. However the cover is a spurious one, a deliberate fake; a fake so perfect that it immediately started to circulate (Cattelan was to only officially feature on Flash Art’s front cover for the first time four years later in 1994). Cattelan apparently commisioned the ‘fake’ Flash Art cover from the magazine’s own graphic designer, hence its short-term cloak of legitimacy. Scheveningen.: n.p., 1964. Various sheet sizes: (33 x 16.2 cm; 24 x 23 cm; 27.5 x 16 cm; 24 x 16.5 cm).. Original flyers and programmes for one of the lesser-known Fluxus festivals: ""Flux-Festival - neueste muziek en anti-muziek - het instrumentale theater"" held at the Kurzaal Theatre in Scheveningen, near The Hague, on November 13, 1964. The festival in Scheveningen, organised by Willem de Ridder, consisted of three parts: the ""concert"" itself performed in the Kurzaal; then in the vicinity of the Kurzaal, a separate room was organised where on Friday 13 November 1964 at exactly 20.15 a second festival started behind closed doors. In some cases, the pieces in the Kurzaal and the second room run synchronously, as in the piano piece ""Half Time"" by Nam June Paik. The final part of the festival were the “street events"" taking place in the streets of Scheveningen and The Hague. The sixth issue of the Fluxus newspaper. “‘Fluxus Vaudeville TouRnamEnt,’” published in New York, July 1965, was by now entirely edited by George Maciunas, anonymously. A propaganda vehicle for Fluxus performance, it contains many photographs of past events and two posters for events later that year. The posters promote “Perpetual Fluxfest at New Cinematheque” (Sept.-Dec. 1965) and “Flux Orchestra at Carnegie Recital Hall” (September 25, 1965). [Ref. Venice.: Galleria del Leone., 1967. Single lithographed sheet. Small area of surface loss due to old mailing label, otherwise good. Mailing address written on verso.. (48 x 23.2 cm), unfolded.. Poster/flyer publicising the opening of Fontana’s exhibition at the Galleria del Leone in Venice on the 8th July 1967. The lithographed poster, designed by Mario Cresci, shows a close-up of Fontana’s right arm as he punches holes in a canvas. Folded twice for mailing.

New York.: Leo Castelli Gallery., 1966. Announcement poster, folded three times for mailing. Small hole caused by folding, otherwise good.. (43.2 x 56 cm), unfolded.. Frank Stella’s exhibition at the Leo Castelli Gallery, March 1966, consisted of polymer paintings on irregular polygonal canvases. This poster announcement mirrors the angular shapes of the canvases with an offset-lithographic reproduction of four angular linear drawings reproduced on graph paper.

Frankfurt.: Zimmergalerie Franck., 1958 - 1960.. 5 volumes. Each in original lithographed wrappers. Issue no.2 with mild wear and staining to covers, and issue no.4 affected by humidity with resultant transference of colour bleed between pages.. Each issue (29.8 x 21 cm).. pp. (18; 38; 30; 16; 14). In the mood of optimism in the post-war years, Klaus Franck was one of the protagonists who tried to find exhibition opportunities for contemporary artists in Frankfurt. From June 1949, Franck, an insurance employee by nature, made his private apartment at Böhmerstrasse 7 available as a gallery space. From 1954 he lived at Vilbeler Straße 29 in Frankfurt and the gallery moved with him until its closure in 1961. In addition to the regular exhibitions, discussion evenings and lectures on various art subjects, modern dance and jazz evenings were also held in the room gallery. In 1934 he had come to the United States as a war orphan and was adopted by Henry and Miriam Flarsheim where he adopted their family name.
