Die-cut card stock, chromolithographed; 5 ½ x 11; crease line and a spot of rubbing to lower right corner; closed cut to top edge with a small piece of tape on verso; colors still bright and vibrant; business details of the company printed on verso; very good. A beautiful and uncommonly large advertising card for “J. G. Gehring & Son†– a prominent company in Baltimore, established in 1824, which made not only jewelry and watches but sterling flatware as well. The image depicts a beautiful young lady walking on a road bordered by rose bushes nad holding a large ring (?).

Small broadside; 8 1/2 x 6; illustrated with small woodcuts; old, faint crease lines; two small chips to top edge; text and illustrations printed off-center, towards the left edge; in good to very good condition. A fascinating piece of advertisement, it showcased hairstylist Jacob Eiselstein's leading styles of hair cut, pattented in 1886 and some of them named after streets in Philadelphia, including 'Jakes 13 St Cut' and 'Chestnut St Cut.' Though arguably, the most entertaining was the 'Dude Cut.'The broadside also contained a list of streets in Philly and prices for dry shampoo, moustache dyeing, hair cutting, and shaving with Bay Rum.

A circular for the arrest of a watchmaker and jeweler in the wind, it gave a description and a photograph of John Beltramo, wanted for Grand Larceny. Among his characteristics were his speaking Italian, English, and Spanish and his walking bow-legged, but with a long stride.

Steel engraving by Martin, Johnson & Co. (1856), sheet 10 3/4 x 7 3/4, engraving approx. 8 1/4 x 6; light age-toning to margins; light ink offset (previously being stored with another publication [?]; very good or better condition. A rare presidential campaign ribbon for John C. Fremont and William Dayton's running for President and Vice President in 1856, it depicts a portrait of Fremont, below a picture of the American Eagle, with the slogan: "Fremont and Dayton, / The Peoples' Candidates." Also included is a beautiful portrait of Fremont in an elaborate, oval, historiated frame, titled: "J. C. Fremont. The Explorer of the Rocky Mountains."
