Wraps have moderate soiling and light wear to edges; text block has minor foxing. This publication provides a detailed look at the actions and fates of officers under General Winfield Scott in the Mexican-American War. The text includes officers' names, corps, dates of when and where employed, and remarks. Some big names in U. S. military history are seen here: Robert E. Lee, P.G.T. Beauregard, U.S. Grant, Stonewall Jackson and many others. On the inside of the rear wrap is an extract of Scott's report summarizing his losses and his extent of victory over the Mexican Army. Charles Bierstadt was known for his stereoscopic views of the American West, shot on several trips during the 1870s and 1880s. Bierstadt started selling his views through stereoscopic view publisher Underwood and Underwood in the late 1880s, dating this card to the 1880s-1890s with its tan mount and imprint indicating Bierstadt as the publisher but "Sold only by Underwood and Underwood." This scene, captioned on the left photo, shows people with a wagon in the distance in boulder-strewn Ogden Canyon. ; 3 1/2" x 7" .

Early in his career as a photographer, James H. Crockwell partnered with to C. W. Carter and then William Ottinger. He traveled throughout southern Utah and Southeast Nevada taking photos of mining towns. Crockwell became Utah's official photographer at the Chicago World's Fair of 1893 (Utah State University). "The Ogden Junction" newspaper was edited by Charles W. Penrose, member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of the LDS Church. The daily edition of this territorial newspaper was published from 1872 to 1879 (Library of Congress). This issue contains an article taken from the "Jackson Whig and Tribune" about a shocking duel between A. J. Sellers and J. N. Patterson, a timetable for the Utah Central Railroad, articles about the territorial government and polygamy in the House, and many local advertisements. As of April 2022 copies found at BYU, Coreer State University, UC Berkeley and the University of Utah. ; 13 ½" x 21" .
