This is a history of Saba, one of the islands of the Netherlands Antilles 132 pages including numerous photographs and appendices, the latter including population totals for various years (1059 for 1988) and a list of freed slaves from 1863. Condition: near fine appears unread. Right upper front corner of this book has been bent forward, I imagine in transit. Otherwise as new.

This would be a reading copy, in fact, no point in buying this book unless you're going to read it. The clue is the subtitle: "An unsentimental journey," which is code for no punches pulled, i.e. cynical, viscious, insulting, funny, catty. It's shocking and intensely readable, clearly written by someone who is smart, funny, knowledgeable, not shy and well, not very nice. Sacred cow after sacred cow is exposed, from Emile Nelligan to Celine Dion and it won prizes in Quebec!

It is a 71 page picture book, reader, and discussion guide which primarily shows colour photographs of the Sarcee community. It introduces a young girl, Coralee Starlight, and her family and their home and farm. It shows the family and other community members in various activities. Some are ordinary things like watching TV and making snow angels, others are specifically those of first nations peoples, like making pemican and hoopdancing. This copy is in as new condition.
