Interior is mostly clean with numerous dog-eared pages. Slight musty odor. Uncommon collection of Temperance Songs edited by W.H. Adams for the Woman's Christian Temperance Union of Pennsylvania. Many of the song are copyrighted by Adams. Many copyrights are 1912. 40 songs are published, all with lyrics and most with music.

A history of Ross Texas Brigade in the Civil War by a member of that unit. "This volume has been compiled from the recollection mostly of a private soldier in the war between the States...it was written in a reminiscent way, as the events of the great struggle has been impressed on the memory of the long-a-go.

Two masking tape remnants on verso. Presentation label on verso. Very Good Condition. Late Victorian era die-cut calendar with quote from Sir Walter Scott's "The Lady of the Lake". Binder holds likely several hundred unique circulars with most exhibiting wear to the edges. Some pages very toned. Light soiling. Good Condition. What first I assumed to be a very boring binder full of bureaucratic circulars from the president's office of the American Railway Express Company turns out to be in reality, a good lesson in history of the evolution of the movement of freight in the United States. [Westerns] [Pulp] Manuscripts for Western Adventure Books by Lynton Wright Brent, with TLS and Photograph, 1969-1971 A trio of manuscripts authored by film actor and prolific author of sexually-charged Western pulp novels, Lynton Wright Brent. Brent was born in Chicago in 1897. He appeared in over 240 films between 1930 and 1950 and was best known for small roles in copious Three Stooges pictures. In 1936 he published a small work entitled "Gittin' in the Movies." Written in a country slang, the cheeky volume advised on how to finagle one's way into Hollywood films. Nearly ten years later "The Bird Cage," widely considered to be Brent's first novel, was published, and his "Lesbian Gang" came out almost 20 years after that. Per Brent's Wikipedia page, the book, "though little recognized when first published in 1964" has "achieved notoriety among a niche queer audience in Peckham, England." Very good condition. Scarce booklet written by then-secretary of the Seattle Chamber of Commerce, James B. Meikle. Booklet is filled with crisp black and white photographs of scenic destinations in and around Seattle, as well as information about the area - from parks, lakes, and islands to visit, to hotels and ferries, nearby towns including Ballard and Renton, and much more. A delightful look at what Seattle had to offer tourists and prospective residents in the early 20th century. Scarce; one copy found in OCLC and none in commerce or past auctions as of January 2024.

Very good condition. All in protective sleeves. Fascinating grouping of three subsets of archival material William Connelley used in researching and writing his famous book on Wild Bill Hickok, published in 1933. The first set dates to 1923 and begins with a request and follow-up from Connelley to Martha Hickok (Sister-in-law of Wild Bill Hickok) for a "brief account of the early life of James B. Hickok". A report from the State Historical Society of Colorado makes reference to an account Martha Hickok apparently had written. Good to very good condition. Malvina Sarah Black Waring (1842-1930) was born and died in South Carolina. She graduated from Limestone College in Gaffney, SC in 1859, and wrote romance novels including "One Old Reb" (State Company, 1929), "That Sandhiller" (Neale Pub. Co., 1904) and "The Lion's Share" (Belford, Clarke and Co., 1888). Malvina helped organize the first chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution in the state and served as its vice president-general for two years, as well as on various committees.
