A smartly bound first edition of this illustrated story of Ancient Greece from Reverend Alfred John Church. First edition. Illustrated with a coloured frontispiece and eleven coloured plates. Collated complete. A story of three children living in Ancient Greece, with chapters entitled: The Home in Athens, A Voyage, A Family Sacrifice, Good-Bye to Sparta, and The Games. Written by Alfred John Church, an English classical scholar. Bound by Bickers & Son, London. Bound in full red calf with gilt. Externally, smart with rubbing and light shelf wear to the extremities. Minor fading to the spine and the odd small mark to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with light spotting to the endpapers. Ink inscription to the front endpaper. School prize bookplate has been covered with a plain white label. Very Good Indeed

Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
