About This Item

London: Henry G. Bohn. Very Good with no dust jacket. 1848. First Edition. Full-Leather. Edges are worn. Major problem: the back cover has been re-attached by gluing in place. Looks good, but ab it stiff... Owner's note on fep, giving place & date he aquired it (1857). Included is a clipping from a catalog, describing this book as: "dark calf, marbled edges, by Hayday." That would be James Hayday, the well known binder. Not an ornate binding. Raised ribs, but the spne label is gone (although the title can be read where the words were embossed into the leather). Simple gold rules on the edges of the covers. Owner's bookplate inside front cover. contents are "very fine."; 5x7 1/4" .
